STORAGE SOLUTION HINTS & TIPS FOR FURNITURES IN GOLD COAST

items you can and cannot store in storage units

HANDY STORAGE SPACE HINTS

When estimating your storage space requirement it is suggested that you take into consideration garage contents, outdoor furniture such as barbeques, table & chairs, deck chairs and garden items. Allow extra space for items that are not easily stacked – e.g. extra large lounge suites, non stacking chairs, bicycles, gym equipment etc. Soft Items, manchester etc can be ideally packed in ‘stripey bags’ which fit easily into small spaces. Smaller packing boxes are easier to handle and store than big boxes.

HELPFUL STORAGE HINTS

General
The use of boxes, Porta Robes, Bubble-wrap and Plastic covers will protect your stored contents. Heavy items should be packed in small boxes. Do not pack boxes so that they become too heavy for one person to handle easily.

To store white goods ensure they are clean and dry. Leave doors slightly open.
Furniture
Ensure loose shelving, drawers, sliding doors are taped or secured to prevent damage. Removable legs are best taken off , packaged and taped to the furniture piece.
All Fragile Possessions
Carefully wrap fragile items individually using bubble-wrap, foam and paper. Artwork, mirrors, glass table tops etc may be wrapped with bubble-wrap or towels or sheets or blankets and taped or suitable cardboard cartons are available or can be made up to the required size.
Electronic Equipment
Bubble wrap. towelling or sheets can be used as wrapping if original cartons are unavailable, otherwise select cardboard cartons of a size to suit.
Batteries
Removal of batteries is recommended where appropriate.
Remember toys and many appliances may also contain removable batteries.
Fuel Driven Machinery
Drain all fuel from motor bikes, lawn mowers and all petrol or fuel driven implements e.g. whipper snippers, chainsaws, blowers, combustion engines etc.
Storing Smart
It is usually good practice to store heavy items at the bottom to enable you to stack progressively lighter items on top.

Should you require easy access to stored contents ensure such items are placed at the front of the unit or plan an access way to the area which you want to reach.
